First Swing, First Rally

July 25, 2026 · A new chapter on the court

She said she wanted to learn tennis. He picked up a racket and showed up. Some things are that simple.

Under the afternoon sun not too harsh, just warm enough two beginners stepped onto the court. No trophies to win, no scores to keep. Just a ball, a net, and the sound of laughter bouncing between serves.

The first swing was wobbly. The second, a little less. By the time they finished, there was a rally brief, chaotic, absolutely beautiful. That's the thing about learning something together: you don't have to be good. You just have to be there.

“She asked to learn. He showed up.
It wasn't about tennis. It never was.”
